ICFDT · CFOA Program

Be found for the roles that never get posted.

CFOA Professional Membership places certified analysts on the searchable ICFDT Analyst Registry, where employers source derivatives and investment talent directly. The certification itself remains valid for life, with no annual dues.

Open to all CFOA certificate holders. New certificate holders receive their first year included with certification.

Membership is optional. The CFOA designation is valid for life and remains publicly verifiable whether or not you join.

Employer discovery

Many roles in this space are filled before a job is ever posted.

Hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, and investment managers routinely fill analyst and trading roles through direct sourcing and referral, before any public listing exists. Candidates who can only respond to postings never see those openings. The Analyst Registry puts certified, verified talent in front of employers at the sourcing stage, so members are contacted directly, without applying.

Employers search

Firms filter the registry by specialization, location, and availability, and reach verified analysts whose competence is already examined, not self-reported.

Members are contacted

Member profiles are contactable directly through the registry. Interest arrives with the role, not after the rejection.

You control visibility

Members set their own availability flag, choose what their profile displays, and can opt out of employer search entirely at any time. Opting out never affects the certification or its verification.

ICFDT Analyst Registry

Search certified analysts.

Every profile on the Analyst Registry is a Professional Member holding a verified ICFDT credential. All certificate holders remain independently verifiable through the public credential registry; the Analyst Registry is where members are searched and contacted. Access for employers is free.

Registry listings shown with each analyst's consent. Members control their profile contents, availability status, and search visibility from their member account, and may opt out of employer search at any time. Certificate verification remains public for all holders via the ICFDT credential registry. Employers: registry access is free; contact requests are relayed to the analyst, whose details are never exposed without their action.

Member entitlements

What membership adds to the designation.

Each entitlement is issued annually and remains active for as long as membership is maintained.

I Employer discovery A contactable profile on the Analyst Registry, with your specialization, headline, and availability, so firms sourcing derivatives talent reach you before roles are ever posted. The registry lists Professional Members only, and visibility and opt-out are always under your control.
II Annual member badge A dated digital badge for LinkedIn, email signatures, and professional materials, reissued with each membership year and verifiable against the registry.
III Derivatives & investment job alerts Curated openings across trading, research, risk, and buy-side analyst roles where derivatives competence is central, delivered to members directly.
IV ICFDT quarterly briefing A members-only review of derivatives market structure, volatility conditions, and developments relevant to professional practice, drawing on ICFDT research.
V Member pricing Reduced fees on examination retakes, preferential pricing on the CFIA examination, and early access to future ICFDT programs and publications.

Questions

Membership, plainly.

Does the CFOA now have annual fees?

No. The CFOA certification is valid for life and carries no annual dues, no maintenance fees, and no continuing-education requirements. Professional Membership is a separate, optional program. Declining or cancelling membership has no effect on your certification or its public verification.

How does the Analyst Registry work for employers?

Employers search the registry free of charge, filtering by specialization, location, and availability, and contact analysts directly through it. Contact requests are relayed to the analyst, and personal details are never exposed unless the analyst responds. The Analyst Registry lists Professional Members; all CFOA certificate holders remain independently verifiable through the public credential registry.

Who controls what appears on my profile?

You do. Members choose their headline, specialization, photograph, availability status, and whether their profile appears in employer search at all. Opting out of search takes effect immediately and never affects your certification, your designation, or public credential verification.

How does renewal work?

Membership renews automatically each year at the applicable rate. A reminder is sent before renewal, and you can cancel online from your member account at any time. If membership lapses, your profile comes off the Analyst Registry; your certification and its public verification are unaffected, and you can rejoin at the standard rate whenever you choose.

I passed the exam recently. Do I need to pay?

Certificate holders from the current examination cycle onward receive their first year of membership included with certification. It activates with your certificate and renews at the standard rate after the first year unless cancelled; you'll receive a reminder before any charge.

I'm certified but not a member. Has anything changed for me?

No. Your designation, your certificate, and public credential verification all work exactly as they did before the program opened. The Analyst Registry is a new service built for members; nothing previously available to certificate holders has been removed.

Is membership open to CFIA charterholders?

CFOA Professional Membership is specific to the CFOA program. The CFIA designation operates its own subscription within the CFIA program. Professionals holding both credentials may hold both independently.
